HEIC to PNG Converter

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to lossless PNG — free, no signup, no software to install. Drop your file, get a PNG that opens on Windows, Android, and every browser and editor.

Convert HEIC to PNG in three steps

  1. Upload your HEIC. Drag your .heic file into the box above, or click to browse. Straight from your iPhone camera roll, Google Drive, or desktop.

  2. Convert. Pick PNG as your output and hit convert. Your photo is processed over an encrypted connection and the PNG is built in seconds.

  3. Download. Save your lossless PNG. Your uploaded file auto-deletes immediately after — nothing is stored.

No HEVC codec, no Microsoft Store extension, no $0.99 charge. Works on Windows 7 through 11, Mac, Android, and Chromebook — anywhere with a browser.

Why convert HEIC to PNG?

HEIC is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11 (2017). It's efficient — a HEIC photo is roughly 50% smaller than the same shot as JPG — but that efficiency comes with a compatibility problem: most Windows apps, older Android devices, and many websites and editors still can't open .heic files natively.

PNG solves that. It's one of the most universally supported formats in existence — every browser, image viewer, and editor reads it, including Windows Photos, Chrome, Firefox, GIMP, Photoshop, and Figma. Convert HEIC to PNG when you need to:

  • Share with non-Apple users without "I can't open this" replies.

  • Edit in design software that rejects HEIC.

  • Preserve transparency for logos, overlays, and graphics (PNG keeps the alpha channel).

  • Keep pixel-perfect quality — PNG is lossless, so no new compression artifacts are introduced.

If your priority is small file size for sharing rather than editing, convert HEIC to JPG instead — it produces files 3–5× smaller than PNG. For modern websites, HEIC to WebP or HEIC to AVIF give the best quality-to-size balance.

Is HEIC to PNG lossless? (The honest answer)

Yes — the PNG step is lossless. PNG uses DEFLATE compression that preserves every pixel exactly; nothing is discarded when your image is written to PNG. There's no quality slider because there's nothing to trade off.

Two honest caveats most converters won't tell you:

  • HEIC itself is already lossy. Your iPhone applied HEVC compression when it first saved the photo. PNG faithfully preserves whatever the HEIC contained — but it can't recover the detail Apple's camera already discarded. From conversion onward, quality is locked in permanently.

  • Color depth and gamut shift slightly. iPhones capture in 10-bit Display P3 (a wide color gamut). Standard PNG output is 8-bit sRGB. On most screens, this is invisible; on a calibrated wide-gamut monitor, deep reds and greens may look marginally less saturated, and smooth sky gradients can show faint banding. For everyday photos, you'll never notice.

Bottom line: the conversion adds no artifacts. The PNG is as good as the source HEIC allows.

Expect your PNG to be 3–5× larger than the HEIC — a 2.5 MB HEIC commonly becomes ~14 MB as PNG (+468%). That's not a bug; it's the cost of lossless quality. If size matters more than perfect fidelity, JPG is the pragmatic choice.

How to convert HEIC to PNG on Windows

Windows 10 and 11 can't open HEIC out of the box — Microsoft makes you install the free HEIF Image Extensions plus the paid HEVC Video Extensions ($0.99), and even then, it's flaky. A browser converter skips all of that:

  1. Open this page in any browser — Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.

  2. Drag your HEIC file(s) into the converter above.

  3. Choose PNG and convert.

  4. Download your PNG. No codec, no install, no charge.

This works the same on Mac, Android, and Chromebook. For a full walkthrough across every device, including built-in OS methods.

Your files stay private

Conversion runs over a 256-bit SSL-encrypted connection, and your uploaded file is deleted immediately after the PNG is generated — we don't keep, view, or share it. No account, no email, no watermark on your output.

One privacy bonus of converting: PNG output drops the HEIC's embedded EXIF metadata, so GPS location and camera details don't travel with the file you share. If you need that metadata, keep your original HEIC.

FAQ _ HEIC to PNG

Is converting HEIC to PNG lossless?

"

Yes. PNG uses lossless compression, so the conversion adds no artifacts and preserves every pixel from the source. Note that the original HEIC was already compressed by your iPhone — PNG keeps that quality but can't restore detail HEIC discarded.

Why is my PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?

"

Because PNG is lossless and HEIC uses highly efficient HEVC compression. A 2.5 MB HEIC commonly becomes ~14 MB as PNG — 3 to 5 times larger. That's expected. If you need smaller files, convert to JPG instead.

Does PNG keep transparency from HEIC?

"

Yes. If your HEIC contains an alpha channel, the PNG preserves it. Standard iPhone camera photos are opaque (no transparency to begin with), so those convert to fully opaque PNGs.

Do I need to install anything on Windows?

"

No. This runs in your browser, so you skip Microsoft's HEIF and paid HEVC extensions entirely. It works on Windows 7 through 11, plus Mac, Android, and Chromebook.

Is it free?

"

Yes — free to use with no signup and no watermark on your PNG. (NOTE: if "unlimited / no daily limit" is confirmed, change to: "Yes — completely free, unlimited, no daily limits, no watermark, no signup." See dev notes.)

How to Convert SVG to PNG Free — Every Method (2026)

SVG files are the gold standard for logos, icons, and illustrations. They scale to any size without losing sharpness because they store shapes as mathematical paths rather than pixels. But most platforms — social media, email clients, Microsoft Office, Google Docs — do not support SVG uploads. When you need your vector graphic to work everywhere, PNG is the format that solves it. Converting SVG to PNG turns your infinitely scalable vector into a fixed-resolution raster image that opens on any device, uploads to any platform, and embeds into any document without compatibility issues. The challenge is doing it correctly — preserving transparency, choosing the right resolution, and avoiding the blurry output that comes from using the wrong tool or the wrong settings. This guide covers five methods, explains exactly how to handle transparency and DPI, and shows you how to choose the right SVG output format for your specific use case. For the fastest conversion with no setup, use Transfonic's SVG to PNG converter — free, browser-based, no account required.
