What Affects OCR Accuracy

Not all JPEGs produce equally clean output. The quality of the extracted text depends almost entirely on the quality of the source image.

Image resolution Higher resolution produces better results. A photo taken close-up in good light will extract near-perfectly. A small, compressed JPEG with visible artifacts will produce errors. If accuracy matters, use the highest-quality version of the image available.

Font and contrast Standard printed fonts on a white or light background extract cleanly. Decorative fonts, coloured text on busy backgrounds, or light text on a dark background reduce accuracy. If the text is hard for a human to read in the image, OCR will also struggle.

Handwriting Printed text converts reliably. Handwriting is inconsistent — neat, well-spaced handwriting may extract usably, but most handwritten text will need manual correction after extraction. OCR is designed for printed characters, not cursive or informal handwriting.

What You Get in the Output
